Playing it
straight
Betting is entertainment you pay for. Treat it like anything else you spend money on for fun — with a budget you set before you start, not one you decide on at halftime.
The rules that actually matter
- Set the number first. Decide what a month of betting costs you before the month starts, the way you'd budget for concerts or takeout. When it's gone, you're done until next month.
- One unit means one unit. A unit should be small enough that losing five in a row is annoying, not scary. For most people that's 1% of the bankroll, and the honest answer is usually smaller than what feels exciting.
- Never chase. The bet you place to win back the last one is the worst bet you'll make all week. There is no such thing as a get-it-back play.
- Don't bet money that has a job. Rent, tuition, groceries, and anything borrowed are not bankroll.
- Don't bet to feel better. If you're firing because the day was bad, that's not handicapping.
Signs worth taking seriously
These are the ones that tend to show up first:
- Betting more than you planned to, more often than you planned to
- Hiding how much you bet, or how it's going, from people close to you
- Feeling like you have to bet to fix a loss
- Borrowing money to bet, or moving money around to cover it
- Losing interest in things you used to like unless there's action on them
- Betting affecting your sleep, work, or relationships
None of these mean you've done something shameful. They mean it's worth talking to someone, and there are people whose whole job is exactly that conversation.

Our side of it
We don't run countdown timers, fake sellouts, loss-chasing promos, or “double your deposit” offers. We don't sell a bigger package after a losing week. And we cap what we'll take from any one member — if someone tries to buy their way into more access than a tier includes, we say no.
